Tepi, Rapé Applicator for Ceremony

A tepi is a sacred, long-handled pipe used in Amazonian ceremonies to blow rapé into another person’s nostrils. Our tepis are simple, elegant and robust, handmade with passion and love and set with an amethyst or quartz crystal.

In the tribes, rapé is usually given by the one who holds the ceremony. The breath of the person blowing carries their intention, and that is why receiving rapé through a tepi feels different than giving it to yourself. It is an act of trust between two people.

How to Use a Tepi

Put a small amount of rapé into the end of the tepi. The person receiving sits upright, breathes in and holds the breath. Place the end gently at their nostril and give one short, firm blow, then do the same on the other side. Afterwards, both sit quietly for a few minutes and breathe through the mouth.

Care: keep it dry and clean it after each use by tapping it out and passing a thin brush or a pipe cleaner through the channel.

For self-application, choose a kuripe instead. Find your medicine in our rapé collection.
